Why the phone keeps getting missed

A mobile detailer's phone rings 6-12 times a day and every call is the same shape: someone wants to know if you do their vehicle, what it costs, and when. The problem is you're always elbow-deep in a wash, your phone is in the cup holder of the truck, and the ringer is buried under a polisher. Pickup rate hovers around 30-40%. The 60-70% you miss — you call back at 5 PM and they've booked with one of the other 12 detailers in your zip code who picked up faster.

The bilingual angle is the kicker. In Phoenix, LA, San Antonio, Miami, Houston, Las Vegas, Tampa — the Spanish-speaking homeowner asking about a "lavado completo" for a 2019 Explorer is a real, recurring customer pattern. Most mobile detailers can't handle that call live and ask their cousin to call back. By the time the callback happens at 4 PM, the customer has booked with the bilingual detailer who picked up. A bilingual answering service flips this from a lost call to a booked appointment.

How Sam handles your mobile detailer calls

  1. 1

    Pick up every call

Sam picks up on ring one — no matter how many jobs you have running. Asks vehicle make, model, condition, and the service the caller wants (full detail, interior, exterior, ceramic, paint correction).

  2. 2

    Qualify and book

Sam checks your home ZIP and service radius. Out-of-radius calls get captured as leads with the address; in-radius calls get quoted from your service catalog and booked into your calendar.

  3. 3

    Get the SMS

You get the SMS — vehicle, service, address, price, booked time. While you're still working on the current car. In English or Spanish to match the caller.

What Sam asks every mobile detailer caller

The qualifying script is built around your trade. Sam asks what matters for an accurate booking and a clean dispatch — not generic intake questions.

  • What vehicle — year, make, model?
  • What service — interior, exterior, full, ceramic, paint correction, headlight restoration?
  • Condition of the vehicle (light, normal, heavy)?
  • Address or service location?
  • Any pet hair, smoke smell, or extreme contamination to be aware of?
  • Do you need this done at your home, your work, or somewhere else?
  • Have you been a customer before?
  • When would you like the service — this week, next week, a specific day?
  • Any time-of-day constraints (kids at school, work meeting, etc.)?
Bilingual · EN / ES

Mobile detailing is a primary bilingual-demand vertical, especially in Sunbelt metros where 30-50% of inbound is Spanish-speaking. Sam handles the Spanish call the same way as the English call — vehicle, service, quote, booking, SMS. The single biggest buying trigger for Sunbelt mobile detailers is the "I lost a Spanish-speaking call last week" pattern.

— Hola, ¿en qué le puedo ayudar?

— Sí, necesito una cita para mi camioneta, una Ford Explorer 2019.

— Perfecto. ¿Lavado completo, interior y exterior? Tengo el martes a las 10 de la mañana disponible.

Common questions

Does Sam know my service catalog and my prices?

Yes. During onboarding you upload your service catalog (e.g. "sedan interior — $149, full SUV detail — $249, ceramic 1-year — $599") and Sam quotes from it. If a caller asks about a service you don't offer, Sam tells them and offers to book the closest match.

What about out-of-radius callers?

Sam knows your home ZIP and your radius. Calls outside the radius get captured as leads with the address (in case you're expanding) instead of booked. You see them in the SMS feed and can call back if it's a good lead.

How does this work with my Google Calendar?

Direct integration. Sam reads your calendar in real time when booking, respects buffer time between jobs, and writes the booking back with the caller's name, service, and price. No double-bookings even if you're writing the catalog while a call is in progress.

I'm a one-truck operation — is this overkill?

It's built for you. Starter at $49/mo covers most one-truck detailers (250 minutes is roughly 30-50 calls a month at 5-8 min average). The math: you miss 20 calls a month worth $250 average = $5k lost; $49 to capture half of those is the easiest ROI math you'll do this quarter.
