For Plumbers

An answering service for plumbers that asks about the fixture, not the weather.

Sam takes the call when your hands are under a sink. Asks what's leaking, where, and how bad. Books the dispatch slot. Texts you the address before you've dried off.

Why the phone keeps getting missed

A plumber's phone rings when both arms are in a P-trap. You can't answer, you can't call back fast enough, and the next plumber on the homeowner's Google search picks up by ring three. After-hours is worse: a burst pipe at 11 PM doesn't care that voicemail will get checked tomorrow. The customer calls the next listing. Either you lose a $400 emergency call or, if you do answer, you spend ten minutes on the curb writing down details by the truck headlights.

A human answering service costs $200-350/mo to take a message that says "plumbing call, address attached, sounded urgent." Half the time the address is wrong, the urgency tag is guessed, and the message arrives by email an hour after the customer already called a competitor. The bilingual version of that service barely exists — most receptionist agencies route Spanish-speaking callers to a callback queue that nobody calls.

How Sam handles your plumber calls

  1. 1

    Pick up every call

Sam picks up on ring one, asks what's wrong (toilet, water heater, slab leak, drain backup), and triages whether it's an emergency.

  2. 2

    Qualify and book

For emergencies, Sam transfers the call to your on-call phone — in the caller's language — with a one-line summary already in your texts. For routine calls, Sam books the next available slot.

  3. 3

    Get the SMS

You get an SMS with the fixture, the symptom, the address, and the booked time. If the caller spoke Spanish, the SMS tells you so you can plan the truck visit.

What Sam asks every plumber caller

The qualifying script is built around your trade. Sam asks what matters for an accurate booking and a clean dispatch — not generic intake questions.

  • What fixture is the issue — toilet, sink, water heater, main line?
  • Is there active water leaking right now?
  • Is the water main shut off?
  • How old is the affected fixture or appliance?
  • Is anyone in the home medically vulnerable (for emergency triage)?
  • Address and gate or driveway code if applicable
  • Is this a residential or a commercial / multi-unit job?
  • Has another plumber looked at this in the last year?
Bilingual · EN / ES

Plumbing has heavy bilingual demand in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Houston, LA, Miami, and most Sunbelt metros. Homeowners with limited English will hang up on an English-only voicemail. Sam answers in Spanish on the first turn and books the job the same way — no callback queue.

— Hola, ¿en qué le puedo ayudar?

— Sí, necesito una cita para mi camioneta, una Ford Explorer 2019.

— Perfecto. ¿Lavado completo, interior y exterior? Tengo el martes a las 10 de la mañana disponible.

Common questions

Does Sam know the difference between a service call and an emergency?

Yes. You set the rules during onboarding (e.g. "active leak, no shutoff, after hours = emergency"). Sam triages every call against your rules. Emergencies go straight to your on-call phone with a one-line text summary; routine jobs get booked into your calendar.

Can Sam quote a price for a clogged drain or a water heater install?

Sam quotes from a service catalog you upload (e.g. "drain snake — $189, mainline rooter — $349, 50-gallon water heater install — $1,650"). For anything that needs a site visit to scope, Sam books a quote appointment instead of guessing.

What about after-hours plumbing emergencies?

Set your after-hours rules and Sam follows them. Common setup: residential burst pipes route straight to your on-call phone; non-emergency calls get a callback-tomorrow booking; commercial after-hours has a different on-call number. All configurable in Settings.

Does this work if I run a one-person plumbing shop?

That's exactly who Sam is built for. Starter at $49/mo covers most solo plumbers (250 included minutes, $0.15/min over). You get the calls answered, the bookings on your calendar, and the texts in your pocket — without paying $200+/mo for a human service or hiring a part-time dispatcher.
