For Contractors

An answering service for contractors that qualifies the lead before you drive across town.

Sam asks scope, budget signal, and timeline. Books the site walk only when the lead is real. Texts you the details so you can read it at lunch instead of returning ten calls at 7 PM.

Why the phone keeps getting missed

Contractors lose hours every week to calls that should never have become a site walk. Someone wants a $5k bathroom and you spend three hours quoting it. Someone wants the kitchen done "before Thanksgiving" but it's September and the cabinets they're asking about have a 14-week lead time. Someone just wants a "rough estimate" because they're going to their cousin anyway. None of these calls can be filtered by the contractor on the phone in 90 seconds, and yet that's exactly the filter every call needs.

A human answering service won't do this filtering — they're trained to take messages, not qualify leads. A traditional sales-development rep at $4-6k/mo will do it but the ROI math doesn't work for a 2-5 person GC shop. The result: contractors either pick up everything (and lose hours) or pick up nothing (and lose the legitimate $150k whole-home remodel that called Tuesday at 2 PM).

How Sam handles your contractor calls

  1. 1

    Pick up every call

Sam picks up every call and runs the qualifying script you set up — project type, budget range, timeline, decision-maker on the call?

  2. 2

    Qualify and book

For real leads (budget aligned, timeline workable, decision-maker present or available), Sam books the site walk from your calendar.

  3. 3

    Get the SMS

For leads that need a callback before booking (e.g. complex project, requires partner sign-off), Sam captures the scope and texts you so you can call back informed instead of cold.

What Sam asks every contractor caller

The qualifying script is built around your trade. Sam asks what matters for an accurate booking and a clean dispatch — not generic intake questions.

  • What's the project — remodel, addition, new build, repair?
  • Rooms or scope involved?
  • Approximate square footage if you know it
  • Timeline — when do you need it done, and when do you want to start?
  • Budget range — under $50k, $50-150k, $150-500k, $500k+?
  • Are you the homeowner or representing the owner?
  • Have you worked with a GC on this before?
  • Do you have architectural plans or permits in progress?
  • Address of the project
  • What other GCs have you talked to?
Bilingual · EN / ES

GC calls are mostly homeowner-side and mostly English-speaking, but the field side (subs, day-laborers, materials suppliers) is heavily Spanish-speaking. Sam matters less on the homeowner intake for GCs and more on the after-hours sub or material-callback line — many GCs forward a Spanish-only line for that side of the business.

Common questions

Can Sam handle a "kitchen remodel before Christmas" lead in October?

Sam will book it if your rules allow — but Sam can also ask the timeline question and flag a "tight timeline" warning in the SMS so you can call back and reset expectations before driving to the site walk. You set the rules; Sam follows them.

What about subcontractor and supplier callbacks?

Sam can route those differently — for example, "if caller says they're a sub or supplier, take the message and text the project manager directly without booking anything." Useful for after-hours when you don't want callbacks landing in your homeowner-lead flow.

Can Sam pull project budget out of homeowners who don't want to share?

Sam asks for a range, not a precise number. Most homeowners will answer "under $50k / $50-150k / $150-500k / $500k+" even when they won't commit to a number. The ranges are configurable — set whatever bands match your shop's deal sizes.

Will this replace my office manager?

No. Sam handles the inbound qualifying so your office manager can focus on project coordination, change orders, and active jobs. If you have a 4+ project pipeline running, you still need a human to manage it; Sam just stops them from being the front desk too.
